Since updates at the station tend to be periodic and not always visible, I've included this list of what's
been done to the page, and when I've done it, to help return visitors find what's changed recently. The list
begins with the most recent changes and lists earlier changes toward the bottom of the page.

Well, it took long enough, but I finally got around to pasting together a new image of
Providence Station. You can still view the original
here. I've also posted information about star
systems that play a "lesser" role in the Terran Chronicles universe such as Epsilon Eridani, Ross 154, and
Fomalhaut: Other Star Systems. |
| 16 Dec 2008 |
I've updated a lot of pages on the site, editing for clarity and to reflect the new ending of
Providence Station. I also removed the "Awards Received" page, as the last site to bestow awards to
Providence Station is no longer online. I'll also continue to remove broken links in the next few days.
Also, NASA imagery and artwork rocks. Just sayin'. *Smiles* The government can't give that agency enough
money. |
| 12 Dec 2008 |
Updated the Russian Winter Project page. The information on
the new page is much more in-depth than the previous version, although the (12-year-old) image of Russian
Winter is now gone. |
| 30 Apr 2007 |
Added two complete short stories to the site: Attack on Ross 154
and Dark Ecstasy. Please be aware that the latter short story is not work-safe. |
| 30 Mar 2004 |
A couple major updates as of now. I did replace the imagemap on the
Command Staff page with an HTML table and some regular links. That will make it tons easier to update the page
in the future (for such things as promotions, anyway) and will hopefully reduce the overhead of having to load the
plaque image and render the map coordinates. It's not much, but it's something. Additionally, I made some minor
changes to pages as I've caught timeline inconsistencies; and I found a Voyager 2 photo of Saturn and Titan which
I placed on the Battle of Saturn page. Finally, I added a page on the
Tycho Colony Incident, which is referenced in Tom Devenson's biography. |
| 26 Mar 2004 |
I've added an archived SolarNet News report on the Ceti
Blitzkrieg of the Kentaurus System, which occurred in June of 2146. Since it's so far apart from the
other SolarNet News archives, and because it's much more significant, it's earned its own place on the
navigation menu. |
| 15 Mar 2004 |
I've made a lot of behind-the-scenes changes to the site the past couple weeks, mostly
reorganizing images and fixing the ensuing breaks in the web pages. However, there are changes of
real substance in the Timeline page. Additionally, I've removed some
more dead links from the Sci-Fi Links page.
The "last updated" date on the front page will only change when I've documented changes
to the site -- that is, not when I make the change, but when I make a note of it on this page.
That should provide me with the incentive to document my work a bit more frequently. |
| 29 May 2003 |
One minor change - I've added more Javascript to the site, both to obscure E-mail addresses
from e-mail harvesters and to consolidate the footer links across all the pages on the site. One major
change also - the entire site has picked up and moved to PhoenixBlue.Net. |
| 19 May 2003 |
I've replaced some JavaScript code with more efficient code for updating the contents and header frames.
The bandwidth conserved is not a large amount, but the change allows me to scrap nearly 30 HTML pages. |
| 08 May 2003 |
I've added two new pages, one on the Sekhmet Incident and one on
the Ti'Shan Incident which occurred a few years before New Earth's destruction.
I've also removed the "unenhanced" version of the website for maintainability reasons. If you're still complaining
about frames over seven years after they've been developed, tough. |
| 18 Dec 2000 |
I'm working to rewrite the HTML at this site to accommodate Netscape, now that Netscape 6 has made some effort to
accommodate the W3C standards for the code I use in my pages. Netscape users, I'm sorry it's taken this long ...
Netscape should mail you folks checks for your loyalty in sticking with their browser until they could get one that
halfway-worked! |
| 27 Jan 2000 |
Providence Station has received two awards from Maeve Silvermoon's Secret Realm. Thank you, Maeve Silvermoon,
for your recognition! |
| 22 Jan 2000 |
Providence Station is now the head of a new webring -- the Military Pagans
Ring. It exists to support the Pagans in the United States and other nations' armed forces. I encourage you to visit the
Military Pagans Ring host page, linked above, for more information. |

It's amazing what you can do with a bit of professional training and a lot of determination.
The new format is the result of three weeks of concentrated effort poring over, modifying, and in a couple
cases rewriting Providence Station's various pages. It would have been done more quickly, but I got
PlaneScape: Torment for Yule ... gamers, I know I need say no more to you.
Now that the format of the site is easily modifiable, I'll be able to spend less time rewriting my own
code and more time adding new content. For starters, I have about 40 story outlines that should be good
for 20-35 pages apiece. The stories themselves won't go on here -- not immediately, anyway, unless I can't
publish them elsewhere -- but I will make sure that this web site stays closely intertwined with the work I
do off-line with the Providence Station universe. |
| 21 Apr 1999 |
Providence Station has joined the Dirandan Chronicles Webring [which has since gone defunct -- PB].
Minor changes have also been made to the Front
Page to make the Battle of Saturn fiction more accessible. |
| 19 Nov 1998 |
I've added a timeline of the Providence Station universe,
both to provide a sense of perspective for all that has happened before the station was built and at the
request of a friend who wanted to know a bit more about the background of the place. It makes a good and
much-needed addition to the site, and I encourage all visitors -- even the old hands -- to stop by and
take a read of it. |
| 16 Sep 1998 |
The WorldBuilders' Ring grows with the addition of Lady Joiya's site [Neither the site nor the ring
are active any longer - PB]. |
| 09 Sep 1998 |
I've made some modifications to the Sci-Fi Links page to
eliminate dead links and include basic copyright information for the sci-fi series featured. |
| 07 Sep 1998 |
The number of sites to receive the WorldBuilders' Award has increased by two recently; both sites
are well-written and well-designed fantasy web sites. As with any site that receives the WorldBuilders'
Award, they come with my highest reccomendation. Check the Award Recipients list [currently offline - PB]
for the new winners. |
| 04 Sep 1998 |
I've seen to more details ... foremost, the final removal of any mention of Geocities from this
site. The intrusive advertisements thrust upon non-paying customers were too high a price to pay for
a "free" service -- and it has, in fact, been some time since we've been on Geocities as a result of
this. My own ISP, Mindspring
[since bought by Earthlink - PB], has proven a much friendlier web host. My only loss from the
Geocities page is, I no longer have a submission form for the WorldBuilders' Award. As soon as I
can think of some way to rectify this, be it a new server or a more (ouch) expensive option with
Mindspring, I will take action. |
| 03 Sep 1998 |
After a long ... *ahem* vacation from the Station, I've made some maintenance to
some of the less-visible areas of the site. A typo in the WorldBuilders' Ring source code that would send
people to the station's old Geocities address has been fixed, and the CGI on the WorldBuilders' Award site
has been removed until I can find a server that will host CGI scripts. Now that I'm back in the swing of
things, look for more changes in the not-too-distant future. |
| 01 Apr 1998 |
The Battle of Saturn continues, though updates are not exactly realtime. Also, repairs are complete
to the Station Registry,
and it is once again fully operational. What few entries were in the registry before the repairs began
were lost, however. Finally, the CGI form for the WorldBuilders' Award page is off-line until a host can
be found who will support CGI scripts. |
| 07 Feb 1998 |
The Battle of Saturn is now in progress. |
| 15 Dec 1997 |
A few cosmetic changes have been made: The menus on the side have been reoriented and the
main page has been reshuffled, both in the hope of making the
Station Registry a bit
more visible. Given the average traffic through the station, it is perhaps no surprise that the
Registry is receiving little or no attention itself. Also, the counter has been moved from the
main page to the "Gateway" page. |
| 17 Nov 1997 |
Providence Station now offers the WorldBuilders' Award for Creative Excellence for exceptional
sites that feature new characters, settings, or universes in the genres of science fiction and fantasy.
If your site matches this description, or if you know of a site that does, please feel free to nominate
yourself or someone else for the award. |
| 03 Nov 1997 |
A short story exerpt has been added and can be accessed here;
the tentative title is, "T-Minus 24 Hours," though the completed story will probably be titled,
"Countdown to Doomsday." Critiques, suggestions, and feedback on the short story exerpt are welcome ... on a
personal note, it feels good to be writing again. |
| 28 Oct 1997 |
The Sci-Fi Ring has undergone some restructuring and is now known as the
World of Science Fiction Webring [now defunct - PB]. This change has been reflected in
the list of Providence Station's webrings. |
| 23 Oct 1997 |
I bet you're wondering just how long I can put off adding something new to the content of this
site ... truth be told, so am I. After a couple on-the-side projects currently underway, I hope to
have the dedication and creative energy saved up to both change some things around here content-wise and
to start working on a second short story related to the universe I've portrayed in these web pages.
[If you want any information about the first, send me some
and I'll get back to you.] For the time being, Unicorn Valley has joined the
Worldbuilders' Webring [and since gone offline - C],
and I'm hoping to attract other new recruits in the near future. |
| 06 Oct 1997 |
Many apologies for the lack of updates ... my life in the 20th century has taken away from my
opportunity to shed more light on the 22nd -- as soon as I can, I'll remedy that. In the meantime, I've
made some updates to the links pages. Also, the station has won the
Amaranth
Society's "Honorable Mention for Outstanding Service to the Pagan Community." This award can
now be seen on the Awards page. |
| 28 Aug 1997 |
A few changes were made to the list of links in the
Pagan Links page. Specifically, the page formerly known as "The Australian Witchcraft Page"
has been modified to "Exposing the Cult Wicca" to reflect the page's change of content and its
writer's change of religion. I've added a personal rebuttal to the links list as well, just
under the new link. |
| 20 Aug 1997 |
The station has had a complete makeover -- most or all of the headers have been redone, and a
frames-enhanced version of the page is now
available. In addition, I've added some new content to the page in the
Special Report section, and I plan on continuing to add to this in the near future. I welcome
feedback on the changes that have been made. |
| 18 Aug 1997 |
Updated the header for the Na'Tari page -- the new header
better suits the effect that I wanted to portray for the Na'Tari. |
| 17 Aug 1997 |
Added the "Station Updates" page, and added code for the
Ring of Worlds to the WebRings page. |
