Venus is home to Muineachán Stellar Industries, the primary trans-dimensional drive manufacturer for the Terran Defense Force. Muineachán Stellar Industries, or MSI, was founded in 2072, when Culum Muineachán first patented a method for storing exotic matter -- a crucial step toward development of the first trans-dimensional drives. The Global Parliament invested in construction of an exotic matter production facility on Mercury and subsidized MSI's production facilities, which were constructed in Venus orbit.

Also in orbit around Venus is the Sol System's largest hazardous waste processing facility. Unmanned bulk cargo ships transport material at sublight speeds from Earth and Mars -- the two principal producers of hazardous waste -- and drop the materials into Venus' gravity well. The high levels of sulfuric acid in Venus' clouds, combined with temperatures in excess of 400 degrees Celsius and crushing atmospheric pressure more than 90 times greater than Earth's air pressure at sea level, make short work of any hazardous waste.
Finally, Mars-based companies harvest sulfuric acid and carbon dioxide from Venus' atmosphere. Manufacturing plants on Mars use the sulfuric acid for construction and other industrial products, then release chlorofluorocarbons into the Martian atmosphere to help warm the planet. The Terran Parliament- sponsored Mars Terraforming Corporation releases carbon dioxide directly into the Martian atmosphere, which helps the red planet's atmosphere gain temperature.
