Nephryl's Personal Log

The events of the past week leave me at a loss for words. With help from Capt. Alexander Mackenzie here and conscientious Ceti among the fleet in Kentaurus, we have uncovered a great deal of information that may allow my people to help both races. My hearts pound with the thought of being able to lift this veil of secrecy behind which we have shrouded ourselves.

When the Ceti ships first arrived in system, I admit I felt a touch of anxiety. The Ceti are a young, brash race, and circumstances have given them few opportunities to meet or learn about the Terrans -- only to fear humankind. My fear was that the Ceti would attack Providence Station and perhaps destroy it. Instead, they proved themselves capable of wisdom well beyond their years and worked with Alex to establish a dialogue.

And what a dialogue it was! Though the conversations are necessarily secretive, I managed to share some news with the embassy on Earth, including news that the Matriarch lives and that she will be aboard Providence Station within the week. I piggybacked this news and other information on the Terran journalist's signal to Earth, though I am certain they are aware of this and trying in vain to decrypt the signal by now.

I provided the Ceti with data that may bolster their case with their ruling council. When Admiral Tenaka visited the station a week ago, he asked a favor of me. He explained that he wished to send one of his best squadrons of starfighters on a reconnaissance mission into Tau Ceti, and he explained what he suspected they would find. I agreed to grant his favor but made him aware that we would shed no Ceti blood. I arranged to have a wing of Kentauran starfighters deployed to Tau Ceti at top trans-dimensional speed.

What the Terran pilots found there was, I am sure, a great surprise to them. Admiral Tenaka, however, did not seem shocked. Our own pilots had their suspicions going in -- suspicions that were confirmed when they arrived to see the Terran pilots locked in combat with Na'Tari starfighters. There is precious little we can do to prevent the Ceti and humans from bludgeoning each other, but we can at least set things in motion back home.

After six hundred years, the Na'Tari have reawakened. If any species -- Terran, Ceti, or Kentauran -- is to survive their awakening, we must prepare quickly for their full fury and the Darkness that will ride with it.
