Background: Little is known about the subject. What little we do know is classified Infrared-Level by order of Admiral Tenaka due to the sensitive nature of his work.

Though his birthdate in the Terran Government Archives is listed as 21 November 2124, he claims to have been born 150 years earlier, in the late 20th Century. While this is highly unlikely, he does have detailed recollection of events that occurred before his recorded birthday; these recollections prevent us from dismissing his claim outright.

His talent as a historian has proven itself over the last year and a half, both through his research and through the records he has provided. His work has provided new perspectives on numerous events in recent history, from the Tycho Colony Incident 20 years ago to the Sekhmet incident and the christening of Providence Station.

That the subject's identity -- indeed his very existence -- is classified under Admiral Tenaka's orders owes itself more to the style of his work than to its nature. Admiral Tenaka explains: "He goes beyond simply recording what happened in these events. His documents contain information he should not have been able to find out -- conversations that occurred twenty years ago between Marcus DuVeaux and myself, for example, that were never stored in any record. He goes so far as to record the thoughts and feelings of the people involved in these events ... with frightening accuracy.

"Much of his writing has been of a nature that would, if revealed, throw the Terran Parliament into an uproar. For example, only a handful of people know about the Na'Tari. Therefore, I offered him the job as historian, along with authorization to travel where he wants, when he wants, without question. In return, he has agreed to hold the information he has collected until I authorize him to release it publicly."

The subject lives with his wife in Colorado Springs, Colo., where he works as a journalist. He spends his personal time discussing and participating in such various areas as SolarNet page design, computer hardware and operating systems, science fiction, and Paganism.

The subject's freelance writing usually relates to history between 2100 and 2146, or current events of a nature less sensitive than his normal work. He credits J. Michael Straczynski's work, most notably "Babylon 5," as an influence on his own writing, which has yet to be published. "My freelance historical writing will take off in a new direction soon," Phoenix Blue explains. "I plan to write an epic, one short story at a time, covering the four thousand years of spacefaring races' history until now, and the events that transpire henceforth."

"Babylon 5" is Branum's single favorite holovision series -- it is one of very few shows for which he'll sit in front of a holovision for any length of time. When he is at work on his computer terminal, he almost always has music playing in the background. His collection of musicdisks spans a broad range of 20th- through 22nd-century artists, though his favorites are antique compact discs such as David Arkenstone's "Quest of the Dream Warrior" and the various compact disks released by Enigma in the 1980's and 1990's.

The subject gave us a brief explanation of more personal matters as well. "My beliefs are not of a nature that they can be classified into any single belief system," he explains. "The various belief systems have different names: the Kentauran and Al'Tari religions, Wicca, Paganism, Shamanism, and so on. I believe each one of these are facets of the same jewel, a jewel that is the Universe and for which we have yet to learn the True Name.

"An individual faith is a challenging faith to which one can hold oneself -- that's why I like it. There is no doctrine to fall back upon -- no one book to quote to justify one's actions. It requires not only that you find your own answers, but that you find your own questions. It requires that you ask questions of yourself and of the Universe around you, and that you don't stop asking questions just because they might make someone squirm. You can't afford to be afraid of the truth."
